Partners will be chosen at random at the event.



PROGRESSIVE FREESTYLE

One Step, Two Step, Half Step, Progressive Country Swing
2 Divisions:
1. Strictly (Lifts Allowed)
2. Jack & Jill 


TWO STEP
All Level- Jack and Jill

ROUNDS
 Number of rounds will be determined based on number of the competitors.

SCORING
There will be a panel of five-seven judges. They will be looking for:
1.  Timing/
Rhythm (Using the music provided) 
2.  Technique (creating and maintaining safe connection with partner)
3Musicality (Creativity to go with the music)
4.  Teamwork (How well you and your partner dance together with connection)
5. Complexity/Variety of Patterns (utilizing different movements to accentuate the music)

PRIZES
The top three couples in each level will receive prize package including tickets to YESSS!! Dance Convention & National Competition!
Progressive Freestyle, Country Swing, and both Line Dance categories are 
eligible for a Belt Buckle.

Line Dance Competition

The Line Dance Competition will be composed of multiple rounds.  Competitors will be chosen by judges to advance to the next round. The top three finalists will be given their choice of prize package!

ROUND
The first round will be a full song and the following rounds will depend on judges needs.  Number of rounds will be determined based on number of the competitors.

SCORING
There will be a panel of five-seven judges. They will be looking for:
Dance Knowledge
(How well do you know and execute the correct steps to the dance)
Timing
(Stay on Count: Dancers will be judged on how well they dance with the music and stay on count with the beat and choreography)
Floor Presence
(Give us a show!: Dances will be judged on how they showcase the dance utilizing energy, individual personality, and style)

PRIZES
The top three individuals in each level will receive prize package including tickets to YESSS!! Dance Convention & National Competition!

The Country Swing Competition will be composed of multiple rounds. 
 
DIVISIONS
1. STRICTLY: dance with the partner of your choice.   You are welcome to come with a partner, find someone at the event (lifts allowed). 
2.  JACK & JILL random partners selected (no lifts above the waist). 



LEVELS
Novice/Beginner

Intermediate/Advanced
The competitor will be responsible for choosing the division they'd like to compete in.



ROUNDS
Each round will consist of 2-3 songs with 90 seconds of music. The number of rounds will be determined based on the number of couples.


SCORING
There will be a panel of five-seven judges. In Jack and Jill qualifying rounds, competitors will be judged individually inside their partnership.  For finals, each couple will be judged as a unit.  Judges will be looking for:

1.  Timing/Rhythm
(Using the music provided) 
2.  Technique 
(creating and maintaining connection with partner and clear stretch & somentum)
3.  Musicality 
(Creativity to go with the music)
4.  Teamwork
(How well you and your partner dance together with connection)
5. Complexity/Variety of Patterns
(utilizing different movements to accentuate the music)


PRIZES
The top three couples in each level will receive a prize package including tickets to YESSS!! Dance Convention & National Competition!

Choreography Competition

Choreography Competition

The Edge Dance Event is proud to host the USLDCC! There will be 2 separate Line Dance Choreography Competitions: 1. USLDCC 2. Edge Specific
USLDCC

The USLDCC, United States Line Dance Choreography Championships, is a competition for amateur line dance choreographers.

Amateur, as defined by the USLDCC, is an individual who has never received any form of compensation (i.e. monies, accommodations, or travel fees) for teaching their own original choreography or co-choreography. This does not include “volunteering” as an instructor at workshops/events or teaching in the individual private class. See addition rules and details here.


Edge Specific
This competition is open to everyone. A song will be selected and all applicants will have the same amount of time to come up with original choreography.  You decide the level the dance and complexity.  Just show us how the music makes you want to move! Prelims will take place by video submission BEFORE Wednesday March 6th. SEND YOUR ENTRY TO TheEdgeDanceEvent@gmail.com . Finalist will showcase their routines in front of judges and the audience! The winner will have their dance showcase Friday night and taught by instructor of your choice at YESSS!! Dance Convention! They will also receive a prize package!
