Competition
Line Dance Competition
The Line Dance Competition will be composed of multiple rounds. Competitors will be chosen by judges to advance to the next round. The top three finalists will be given their choice of prize package!
DANCES
Competition dances will be The Walk (aka The Murica Walk) and We Are Tonight. Click HERE for step sheets, walkthrough and demos!
LEVELS
All competitors will compete together.
ROUND
The first round will be a full song and the following rounds will be half a song. Number of rounds will be determined based on number of the competitors.
SCORING
There will be a panel of five-seven judges. They will be looking for:
Dance Knowledge
Timing
Floor Presence
PRIZES
The top three individuals in each level will receive their choice of prize package!
Country Swing Competition
The Country Swing Competition will be composed of multiple rounds. The first heat will be “strictly” where you will dance with the same partner of your choice. The final heat(s) will be “Jack and Jill” style (random partner).
PARTNERING
For the qualifying round, you will dance with the partner of your choice. You are welcome to come with a partner, find someone at the event, or one can be assigned to you. For subsequent rounds, partners will rotate, "Jack and Jill" to showcase their ability to lead/follow.
LEVELS
Depending on the number of competitors their will either be two levels, novice and intermediate, or a single "All American" level which means mixed.
ROUNDS
Each round will consist of 90 seconds of music. Number of rounds will be determined based on number of couples.
SCORING
There will be a panel of five-seven judges. In qualifying rounds, competitors will be judged individually inside their partnership. For finals, each couple will be judged as a unit. Judges will be looking for (in order of importance):
1. Timing/Rhythm
(Using the music provided)
2. Stretch and Momentum
(creating and maintaining connection with partner)
3. Musicality
(Creativity to go with the music)
4. Teamwork
(How well you and your partner dance together with connection)
5. Complexity/Variety of Patterns
(utilizing different movements to accentuate the music)
PRIZES
The top three couples in each level will receive their choice of prize package!
